A guide to care questions

What is it?

Does it help?

Can I get it?

How do visits work?

What will I pay?

What could go wrong?

Getting a useful assessment

What happens in a telehealth visit?

Telehealth is a care visit held remotely. The useful part is the assessment, not just the ease of logging in.

Care facts as of September 2026.

Keep in mind

The remote route still needs an assessment, a way to ask more, and a plan for further care.

What might the visit feel like?

You may fill in a health history and then talk or exchange messages with the health professional.

Have your questions nearby. Ask how you can add a detail that did not fit the form.

Does every first visit need live video?

Medical-board guidance allows a live or a later-reviewed first visit if it meets the care standard, as of September 2026.

State rules still differ on the format a visit can use.

A later-reviewed visit means you submit information and the health professional responds after reading it.

What if the form gives only set answers?

A form limited to fixed questions and answers is insufficient by itself for care under medical-board guidance. Forms omitting details needed for proper care also fall short.

An interview that responds to your answers lets the health professional ask more questions and learn more about your health.

Ask how that exchange works before committing to the service.

Why do they need to know where I am?

Your physical location at visit time determines which state’s permission to practice applies, according to medical-licence guidance checked in September 2026.

Tell the service where the visit will happen, including any travel that changes that answer.

What happens afterwards?

Ask when you can reach the health professional again and how a question about the plan is handled.

Ask how records get to the health professional you already see.

What can I take away?

The remote route still needs an assessment, a way to ask more, and a plan for further care.
